FPS is estimated from the device's GPU class (Steam Deck as baseline) at the shown resolution and upscaler, at 15–25 W.
Windows handheld tips
- Raise GPU memory (UMA frame buffer) to 6–8 GB in BIOS or the vendor app; it cuts stutter and texture pop-in in new games.
- Use the vendor performance mode (Armoury Crate, Legion Space, MSI Center M) at 17–25 W when plugged in; on battery, 15 W with a 40 FPS cap is the sweet spot.
- Keep the AMD Adrenalin / Intel Arc driver current; new games often gain a lot from driver updates.
- With VRR on, a 40–60 FPS range feels smooth; without VRR, cap at half the panel refresh (60 Hz on 120 Hz screens).
- Close background launchers and updaters; on 16 GB devices shared memory runs out fast and FPS drops.
